The last defender-Kazakh of the Brest Fortress

20. 09.2018 The Faculty of History, Archeology and Ethnology, the Department of History of Kazakhstan organized a memorial evening dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the hero of the Great Patriotic War, defender of the Brest Fortress, historian, veteran, professor KazNU Gabbas Zhumatovich Zhumatova. This evening was officially held in DSP Keremet at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

Guests of the evening were honorable veterans-teachers of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Candidate of History, Professor T.K. Karataev, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor О.К. Shedenov, member of the veterans' trade union K.Sh. Baimisheva, Professor J. Turken-Uly, Chairman of veterans of the Bostyndyk district of Almaty, H. Birimzhanov, dean of the Faculty of History, Archeology and Ethnology, M.S. Nogaybaeva, head of the Department of History of Kazakhstan, B.B. Karibayev, Doctor of History, Professor T. Omarbekov.

During the evening, reports were presented on exemplary life and the development of his career as a scientist. A documentary about G.Zhumatov was shown, and a special exhibition of books and photos was organized. The invited guests shared their memories of the life of a great personality.

Evening of memory and memories in honor of the true hero of his homeland, public figure Gabbas Zhumatov Zhumatovich has great importance for future historians and young scientists. The purpose of this event was to show respect and honors to outstanding personalities, their activities, as well as the moral education of the younger generation.
